COMPAQ CANADA SCORES FIVE SPONSORSHIP DEALS WITH NHL
By Adnews Staff
Compaq Canada Inc., based in Richmond Hill, Ontario, has signed several sponsorship deals with the National Hockey League, maintaining relationships with five existing partners. The deals replace previous agreements with five of the six NHL hockey clubs in Canada: the Vancouver Cannucks, Edmonton Oilers, Calgary Flames, Ottawa Senators and Montreal Canadiens. The new deals are for three year terms with the exception of the Montreal Canadiens which is a five-year deal. Compaq will advertise using various media in each of the club's arenas. The company will also sponsor a new youth ticket program at all homes games this season called Compaq Kids' Corner, which launches with the start of hockey season next month. The program involves each club and the board of education in that community to select a classroom of 30 students to attend a home game free of charge. Advertising for Compaq is done by Harrod & Mirlin/FCB. Public relations are handled by Cohn & Wolfe. Both companies are of Toronto.
