MICROTEC LAUNCHES MERLIN USING INFOMERCIAL

Residential security company Microtec, based in Quebec City, is promoting the launch of its new Merlin brand with a 30-minute infomerical. Merlin is a residential security system that connects to the Internet. The system can send a message to a user's work computer, pager or PCS phone, notifying them that the alarm has been activated of simply that someone has entered the home using the personal code. Currently an English and French version of the infomerical is running in Quebec. As Microtec expands into the Ontario market later this year the English version will begin running in Ontario. Ian French, president of Northern Lights Direct Response Television, which produced the infomericals, said "This system has too many features and benefits to cover in a short period of time. An infomercal gave us the time we needed to fully explain the service." Northern Lights worked with Microtec's advertising agency Bos Advertising in creating the infomercials.
