WIREDMERCHANT.COM INTRODUCES SELF THROUGH $500,000 CAMPAIGN

Recently-launched online computer products intermediary WiredMerchant.com of Toronto is looking to build brand awareness and drive traffic to its Web site with a $500,000 advertising campaign. The print-based campaign begins this month for a three-month run. A series of ad running in Canadian trade and business publications including Computing Canada, Net World, Computer World, Canadian Computer Wholesaler, Net Profit and E-business Journal are targeting value-added resellers, system integrators and Fortune 1000 companies. The ads read "We make obsolescence obsolete," "The term expiry date has officially expired," and "Obsolescence. What an outdated notion." The site offers new, end-of-life and hard-to-find products for sale from equipment manufacturers including Seagate, Quantum, IBM, Compaq, Hewlett-Packard, Toshiba and Fujitsu. Following the print campaign WiredMerchant.com plans a direct mail push. Advertising for WiredMerchant.com is done by Padulo Integrated. Public relations are handled by Edelman Public Relations Canada. Both agencies are based in Toronto
