FUNCOW.COM AND EMI PARTNER TO OFFER FREE WEB ACCESS

Customers who purchase select EMI Music artist's CDs will now get free Internet access as well as music, courtesy of a new marketing agreement between Funcow.com and EMI Music Canada. Select CD's from EMI's collection will promote the free Internet access offer by displaying the Funcow.com icon on the CD's jacket. The disc of music also contains the software and settings required for Internet access. Once online, the user will see a web page branded to the artist featured on the CD. John McDonald, marketing and communications manager at Funcow.com, said the agreement allows advertisers to target specific markets based on the artist. In the coming weeks, artists to be included in the arrangement will be named. A marketing campaign will support the deal, but plans have not been confirmed.
