Japan's mobile communications operator NTT DoCoMo and advertising agencies Dentsu and NTT Advertising have come together to establish a new advertising agency called D2 Communications. The new agency, which will be based in Tokyo, will act as the media representative for NTT DoCoMo's "i-mode" wireless Internet service. The i-mode service, introduced in February of last year, provides a continuous Internet connection to a compatible mobile phone. NTT DoCoMo will hold a 51% share of D2, with Dentsu holding a 46% share. The remaining 3% will be held by NTT Advertising, an affiliated company of NTT.
