NATIONAL AWARDED 3COM CANADA ACCOUNT

National Public Relations of Toronto is adding the 3Com Canada account to the client roster of its technology communications practice. Edward Gould, managing partner, National Public Relations, said he was delighted to add the 3Com business to the agency's growing tech practice. 3Com Canada, the latest in a string of account wins for the agency, joins recent wins Meridex Network Corporation, Canon Canada and eDispatch.com. Gould said 3Com did speak with a number of other agencies but feels National was chosen based on its reputation in corporate and marketing communications as well as its national network of offices. The incumbent on the account was Environics Communications of Toronto. Environics, which handled the account since September 1998, resigned the business last week. Environics senior vice president, Andrew Berthoff, said the agency decided it would be best for both to part ways and focus on different things in the future. Environics retains the Palm Canada business. Palm separated from 3Com earlier this year. National has already begun working on its first project which includes its corporate repositioning strategy.
