FORD CONNECTS WITH ONLINE CUSTOMERS

Ford Motor Company of Canada, Limited, based in Oakville, Ontario, has announced two Canadian communities will be the test sites for the company's BuyerConnection online service. Consumers in the Hamilton/Niagara and Ottawa/Carleton regions in the province of Ontario will be able to order cars direct from the manufacturer at <http://www.ford.ca>. Initially, BuyerConnection will offer Ford's Focus, Taurus or Windstar for purchase. Customers can get an e-price for the vehicle, find out if the vehicle is available at a local dealer or being shipped from the plant, secure the purchase with a $250 credit card deposit and track the vehicle's status once the order has been placed. Ford of Canada will update the e-price of each vehicle every ten days in an effort to reflect market conditions. Dealers in both regions have Internet sales consultants assigned to assist online customers including bringing papers to the customer's home for signing or delivering the new vehicle to the customer's driveway.
