ENVIRONICS EXPANDS CLIENT ROSTER
By Adnews Staff
Toronto-based Environics Communications has added six new clients to its roster. Several of the wins are Internet related, which president Bruce MacLellan says is one of the company's fastest growing areas. Internet-related clients now represent twenty per cent of the agency's business, he says. Environics has picked up the entire Xerox Canada account, having previously sharing it with National Public Relations. Xerox Canada, based in Mississauga, Ontario, consolidated the account with Environics after National pulled out of a review involving Canadian and U.S. incumbent agencies. Panasonic Canada, based in Mississauga, Ontario, also tapped Environics following an agency review to handle PR support for its consumer electronic products. The incumbent, BenchMark Communications, was forced to resign the account due to a client conflict following its merger with Canada Porter Novelli. Internet services company Organic Inc. of San Francisco has hired Environics to represent its Canadian operations. Environics was picked following a review of four agencies. Toronto-based Telepix Imaging has turned to Environics to handle its North American PR needs after receiving a referral for the agency from an outside contact. Telepix lets customers display their pictures digitally on a password protected Web site. An Ottawa-based company, Webhancer, which provides Web site traffic tracking services, is also looking to Environics for its North American PR needs. Environics won the account through a referral from an outside contact. Toronto-based Zimmer Canada has chosen Environics for its Canadian public relations activities following a competitive pitch with three agencies. Zimmer produces artificial joints. Environics also began working on the Canadian public relations for Charity.ca. The site lets people create a portfolio of charities and make donations through the Internet. MacLellan said the agency has hired five new employees to help with the new accounts. The Toronto shop will be working with its Stamford, Connecticut office on the North American assignments.
