FUTURESHOP.CA FOCUSES ON NEW ONLINE MAGAZINE
By Adnews Staff
Futureshop.ca, the online component to Burnaby, B.C.-based consumer electronics and computer retailer Future Shop is focusing on the technology of tomorrow with the launch of its new online magazine called Future Focus. The new online magazine features four categories including buying guides, product reviews, high tech lifestyles and new product information as well as articles from Red Herring, Salon, Knight Ridder Tribune and AP Online. Future Focus will be updated on a weekly basis with stories in all four categories updated on a daily basis. According to the company, it was due to the response editors of Futureshop.ca's biweekly newsletter Future Flash received when a product article was featured and as a result of feedback from its Web site visitors that led to the new magazine. The new online publication is being promoted through banner ads, in Future Shop's flyer and through print ads in The Globe and Mail and National Post newspapers. Futureshop.ca estimates 20 million consumers will visit its site this year. Advertising was handled in-house.
