The Canadian Radio-television and Telecommunications Commission has announced it has received over 450 applications for new digital services. The applications were in response to the CRTC's call sent out February 4, 2000. Broken down, 446 of the 452 applications are for pay and specialty services, two are for pay-per-view and four are for video-on-demand services. The commission said the applications will be considered at a public hearing scheduled for August. Final decision regarding the applications are expected to be made by the end of the year. Additional information including a preliminary list of applications is available at the commission's Web site at <http://www.crtc.gc.ca>.
