HOME FRAGRANCE MARKET GROWING
By Adnews Staff
Sales of home fragrances will increase by 4.7% this year in the U.S., to reach $1.2 billion, according to a study by Packaged Facts of New York. In 1994 home fragrance sales grew 4.3% to $1.1 billion. The market is divided into two categories: environmental fragrance products and air fresheners. Environmental products accounted for 55% of the home fragrance market last year and air fresheners 45%. Some marketers of home fragrances are branching out, adding cosmetics and personal care products to their lines. They are also moving into other markets to expand their own. For example, they can be found at home design trade shows trying to convince people that home decoration should appeal to the nose as well as the eye.
