FUNCOW.COM BREAKS BRAND AWARENESS EFFORT
By Adnews Staff
Funcow.com Inc. is spending $4.5 million on a new advertising campaign that is designed to create brand awareness and drive traffic to the Web site of the Toronto-based Internet service provider. The campaign, which was created in-house, consists of television, radio and print advertising. Funcow.com expects to add outdoor advertising by June. The television commercials use a Funcow spokes-character to promote the features and services available from the company. Funcow.com launched in the Toronto and Montreal markets in February of this year, offering unlimited dial-up Internet access for $25.99 a year. The company expects to launch supporting advertising when it expands into the Vancouver market within the next three months. On May 1 Funcow.com will launch a free version of its Internet access service that will be advertising-sponsored. The campaign, running until the end of the year, targets the family and student markets. Funcow.com will also be looking at proposals for an agency-of-record in the upcoming weeks.
