ASTRO NOW SERVING DESSERT

Toronto-based Astro Dairy Products Co. is taking up more room in the dairy case. The company, which according to director of marketing Joe Santos, is currently the leading yogurt brand in Canada, has branched out and launched Astro Fresh Dairy Pudding Cups. The new prepared desserts, available in chocolate, butterscotch, vanilla, fat free vanilla and chocolate flavors, hit stores earlier this month. To support the product, Wolf Group of Toronto, which also created the packaging, produced an animated 15-second national television spot. The spot marks the return of the Astro spoons, first used in Astro's yogurt advertising last year. In the spot, the spoons perform acrobatic moves to scale a refrigerator and reach the pudding cups located on the top shelf. Astro is positioning its pudding cups as a wholesome, "fresher tasting" dessert made with 66% skim milk and no hydrogenated oil. Television advertising is scheduled to run throughout the spring season, supported with in-store materials.
