By Adnews Staff
Montreal-based Quebecor World has announced a ten-year, $1 billion contract extension with Toronto-based Sears Canada for the printing of its catalogues. Under the terms of the agreement, Quebecor World said it will provide a variety of prepress services and print 90 per cent of the catalogues that Sears Canada distributes across the country. Previously the commercial printer handled 85% of Sears Canada's catalogue work. Most of the printing, which includes 60 million catalogues a year, is expected to be carried out at the company's PE&E plant in Toronto, which recently was included in a $45 million expansion. In addition to the catalogue contract, Quebecor World provides other services to Sears Canada including digital photography and the management of electronic color files used for online and print formats. Quebecor World also has a contract to print 85% of Sears Canada's retail flyers, Charles Cavell, president and chief executive officer of Quebecor World, said.
