CANADIAN STUDENTS CREATE DRINKING AND DRIVING PUBLIC SERVICE CAMPAIGN

High school students from across the country will be the creative source behind a new public service campaign called Extreme Attitudes Against Drinking and Driving 2000. The campaign is being launched in the form of a contest inviting 2,000 students in grades 11 and 12 to enter original 30-second videos, Web sites and banner ads featuring an anti-drinking and driving theme. Winning video entries will run on CBC Television and Radio-Canada, while new media winners will be posted on the Internet during the graduation period of May and June 2000. The contest was launched by CBC and national sponsors the Royal Canadian Mint, E-ZEEWRAP and What! A Magazine. Students interested in entering can ask their school for the Extreme Attitudes entry kit. The deadline to enter is March 15, 2000. In addition to the contest, each graduating student in June 2000 will receive the Extreme Attitudes quarter card. The card holds a quarter to remind students to call a parent, taxi or friend for a safe ride home.
