MDAC FINDS A WAY OUT IN NEW CAMPAIGN BY ANDERSON
By Adnews Staff
Toronto-based Anderson is finding a way out for the Mood Disorders Association of Canada. The agency has developed the largest public awareness campaign about depression ever conducted on behalf of the MDAC. The aim of the "Finding A Way Out of Depression" campaign is to promote a better understanding of clinical depression. The campaign, running in both English and French, includes national print and television advertisements, an interactive Web site, a direct mail campaign to physicians, an educational pamphlet and a 30-minute television piece. "Finding A Way Out of Depression" also includes a self-test which will be placed in daily newspapers, on the Feelingblue.com Web site and made available at a 1-877 number. The test, although not a diagnostic tool, is designed to help those who think they are affected by depression. Anderson won the assignment because of its relationship with the Canadian pharmaceutical company SmithKline Beecham Pharma, which provided a grant for the public awareness campaign. MDAC, based in Winnipeg, Manitoba, is a national, non-profit organization that serves the needs of Canadians affected by depressive illness. A public relations campaign from Toronto-based National Public Relations is supporting the new awareness campaign.
