TRANSLINK RENEWS CONTRACT WITH OBIE MEDIA

The Greater Vancouver Transit Authority, also known as TransLink, has renewed its contract with Obie Media Limited of Vancouver. TransLink's board of directors voted in favor of renewing Obie Media's contract after originally awarding the out-of-home advertiser the business in 1998. The seven year contract was guaranteed for two years with an option to renew for the remaining five. Obie Media's renewed five year contract is valued at $23.3 million. An article in yesterday's issue of the National Post reported Pattison Outdoor was also interested in the contract and asked TransLink's board of directors to reopen the bidding process. Pattison lost the transit ad contract two years ago when it was outbid by Obie Media the article stated. TransLink was reported to have until April 30 to decide whether to renew Obie Media's contract for the remaining five years. Obie Media Ltd. is a subsidiary of U.S.-based Obie Media Corporation.
