GAP HAS SIGHTS FOR OLD NAVY EXPANSION INTO CANADA
By Adnews Staff
San Francisco-based specialty retailer Gap Inc. has its sights set on expanding its Old Navy brand into the Canadian market. The company announced tentative plans to purchase a distribution site and building in Brampton, Ontario. This would not only mark the expansion of the Old Navy brand into Canada but also its first time outside of the U.S. Currently there are more than 500 Old Navy stores. If the proposal gets the go ahead, the distribution site is scheduled to be complete for the summer of 2001. No plans are in place as of yet concerning Old Navy retail locations. The Old Navy distribution site is located 10 miles from Gap Inc.'s distribution centre for its Gap and Banana Republic brands in Canada. Advertising for Old Navy, Gap and Banana Republic are handled in-house. The three brands offer clothing, accessories and personal care products for men, women, children and babies.
