MOLSON GREETING NEW YEAR WITH Y2K MUG
By Adnews Staff
Molson is setting the scene for the highly anticipated New Year's Eve holiday in a new spot for its Molson Dry, Export and Hi-Dry brands of beer. The 30-second spot running throughout Quebec is centered on the theme of a Y2K mug. The spot, designed to support an in-case promotional campaign in which participants have a one in five chance to instantly win a Y2K souvenir mug, is comprised of two parts. The first part re-creates potential problems that could arise as a result of year 2000 computer bugs, including deprogrammed street lights, stuck elevators and major traffic jams. The second part takes place during the chaotic atmosphere. The Y2K bugs are replaced by Y2K mugs, followed by scenes illustrating New Year's Eve 1999, ending at a rave. The spot was produced by Voodoo Arts and was created by Cossette Communications-Marketing. Both companies are based in Montreal.
