TORONTO RADIO STATION ATTENDS STUDENT CRIME STOPPERS

Toronto radio station HITS 103.5FM is doing its part to reduce violence in Toronto's schools. The radio station, which is a radio media partner of the Student Crime Stoppers program, has announced it will donate $100,000 in airtime for a radio campaign to educate students on how the Student Crime Stoppers program can make there school a safer place. Thirty-second spots created in-house will be used to raise awareness of the Student Crime Stoppers program. The radio station also announced an additional $5,000 would be donated for the printing of posters and brochures to be distributed in the over 60 schools currently participating in the program. The posters include the tag line "Having a safer school is your call" and features the Crime Stoppers phone number 222-TIPS. HITS 103.5 plays a top 40 format that targets an audience between the ages of 12 to 24 years. The Student Crime Stoppers program, which is run in cooperation with Toronto Crime Stoppers, is designed to be a vehicle students can use to report crime or violence without having to give their name.
