SONY PULLS ACCOUNT FROM ROCHE MACAULAY & PARTNERS

Sony of Canada Ltd. has announced its Sony store is ending a two and a half year relationship with Toronto-based Roche Macaulay & Partners. RMP has worked with the Sony store in developing the retailer's brand positioning and strategic platform. "We have been very pleased with RMP's strategic and creative work, but in an effort to maximize synergies with the Consumer AV/IT division of Sony of Canada, we will be exploring the consolidation of the brand advertising assignments of the two divisions with a single agency," Humphrey Kadaner, senior vice president, the Sony store said. Currently advertising for the Consumer AV/IT division is done by Ranscombe & Co. of Toronto. Kadaner reiterated that the relationship with RMP is ending amicably. The Sony store's media planning and buying assignments will remain with Due North and the direct marketing assignment will remain with Lowe RMP Direct, the direct marketing agency formed by The Lowe Group and RMP. Public relations for Sony of Canada's consumer electronics division is handled by Cohn & Wolfe of Toronto.
