HEINZ SERVING POKEMON CANNED PASTA

Heinz Canada of Toronto is serving Pokemon for lunch. The company has launched Pokemon Red and Pokemon Blue canned pasta, now available in grocery stores across Canada. To introduce the new Pokemon pasta, Heinz Canada and Canada Safeway are running a Pokemon promotion in Western Canada beginning early December. Purchasers of the pasta can enter to win the new Pokemon Yellow: Special Pikachu Edition video game and a Nintendo Game Boy color system. In Ontario, Heinz and IGA are teaming up from now until December to offer buyers a chance to win one of 50 Game Boy color systems, while in the Maritimes Sobeys is launching a promotion in mid-November offering a chance to win a prize package consisting of a Pokemon Yellow: Special Pikachu Edition game and two double movie passes from Empire Theatres. Advertising support for the in-store promotions is being done through ads in the stores' weekly circulars, created in-house. Heinz Canada will also be launching a television campaign early next year to promote the new canned pastas. The campaign will be created by Leo Burnett of Toronto. PR for Heinz Canada is handled by Cohn & Wolfe of Toronto.
