B.C. NURSES UNION PROTESTING NON-NURSING DUTIES
By Adnews Staff
The BCNU British Columbia Nurses' Union has launched a new campaign with one goal in mind, to reduce the number of non-nursing duties Registered Nurses have to perform. The campaign is aimed at encouraging employers to hire service and support workers so Registered Nurses can concentrate on patient care. The BCNU will begin airing radio advertisements on November 1, designed to highlight the problem. The radio ads will be supported with campaigns in worksites throughout the Lower Mainland and Fraser Valley. As part of the campaign, the union is sponsoring a contest to find the "most ridiculous, outrageous non-nursing duty". The radio ads and worksite campaigns will expand to the rest of the province in the upcoming weeks.
