ING DIRECT AND CANADIAN TIRE BANKING ON IT

ING Direct and Canadian Tire, both of Toronto, have formed a new strategic alliance that will introduce a national in-store banking service to 350 Canadian Tire locations. The national roll-out follows the successful launch of the service in London, Ontario last year. The first stores scheduled to receive the automated bank machines will be in the Kitchener-Waterloo and Greater Toronto Area regions. The in-store banking service will be comprised of a national bank machine network that will provide retail credit card customers with tailored automated banking services. The in-store service will also provide a range of retail credit services that were previously only available at the Canadian Tire service desk. ING Direct's customers will now have a retail network through which they can access Canadian or U.S. savings or loan accounts with the option to receive cash in either Canadian or U.S. currency. There is no charge or fees for withdrawals or transfers. Canadian Tire customers have the option to use their Canadian Tire retail credit card or Options MasterCard to perform functions such as account balance inquires, PIN changes and Options Points balance inquires with no fees or service charges. In addition, cash advances are available through the machine. The bank machines are also available to anyone with an Interac bank card or MasterCard card. To promote the new in-store banking service, point-of-purchase materials and a direct mail campaign to ING Direct and Canadian Tire customers is being used. The POP materials and direct mail piece were created by Grey Direct of Toronto. In-store demonstrators are also on hand to promote the new service.
