WPP GROUP PLC EXPANDS IN FRANCE WITH HIGH CO ACQUISITION

WPP Group plc of London has agreed to acquire a 30 per cent interest in High Co., the French marketing services and new technology group. Under the agreement, WPP Group plc will acquire shares representing 18 per cent of the company from High Co.'s main shareholder. High Co.'s subsidiaries include: High Co Conseil in business-to-business marketing, Kenya, a direct marketing agency, Pole Production, a print-buying company, Editum, a consumer magazine producer and the new technologies division which includes Netforce, specialist in Web site design. The investment in High Co. strengthens WPP Group's marketing services in the areas of direct marketing and new technology. The deal is subject to shareholder approval.
