ALBERTA INSURERS HIT THE ROAD WITH SUMMER SAFETY TOUR
By Adnews Staff
The Coalition of Alberta Automobile Insurers of Edmonton is getting ready to take a road trip. A group of 13 youth ambassadors will travel to more than 60 communities throughout the province to educate people about road safety and graduated licensing. The tour will include an interactive booth with games to educate people about road safety and displays to illustrate how the graduated licensing program works. The "Summer Road Safety Tour" will be promoted through local media in each of the communities in which the tour plans to stop. The Coalition of Alberta Automobile Insurers is a joint effort by 50 insurance companies. The Coalition is proposing that a two-level graduated licensing system, requiring drivers to gradually earn their license and driving privileges, be adopted for Alberta. Graduated licensing programs have already been implemented in the provinces of British Columbia, Ontario, Quebec, New Brunswick, Nova Scotia and Newfoundland.
