GLOBE AND MAIL UPGRADES TECHNOLOGY SECTION
By Adnews Staff
The Globe and Mail has redesigned its Technology section based on feedback from its readers. The section, which runs every Thursday, made its new-look debut yesterday. To promote the changes the publication ran advertisements, created in-house, in the newspaper leading up to the launch of the redesigned section. The upgrades to the section include: an expanded line-up of three columnists that will rotate each week, broadened technology themes that will explore the areas beyond computers, a Strategy Page that will contain business-oriented features, and Help Desk, a feature that provides solutions to common software and hardware problems. The weekly Technology section first made its debut in September 1998 in conjunction with the launch of globetechnology.com, an Internet resource that provides news, reports and reviews about the technology industry. PR is handled by Environics Communications of Toronto.
