GREY ADVERTISING NAMES NEW PRESIDENT

Grey Advertising Inc. of New York has announced that John Clinton has joined Grey Canada, Toronto, as president and chief executive officer. Clinton will assume his duties in mid-July. Prior to yesterday's announcement, he served as chairman of J. Walter Thompson Co. Canada and as a member of the agency's worldwide board. He also headed the agency's Kellogg's North American account. "I am delighted to take the reins of Grey Canada. I look forward to building on its terrific foundation: the team, client roster and resources already in place. The breadth of its business base and depth of its offerings in specialized services are in tune with the need of Canadian marketers looking for total brand communications," Clinton commented. Clinton is a 20-year veteran of the industry. He led JWT Chicago as executive vice-president, general manager from 1996-1998. Prior to that he was president of JWT Canada from 1994 to 1996. He also served as president of Enterprise Creative Selling, a subsidiary of JWT, from 1990 to 1994. Clinton joined JWT in 1979 and worked through the ranks on accounts such as Pepsi, Ralston Purina, Goodyear, Mattel and the Bank of Montreal. Grey Canada operations include the units of Grey Direct, Grey Interactive, Grey Entertainment, Grey Healthcare, Lasso Communications, MediaCom, War Paint, Brand Directions Inc. and Kelley Advertising. Grey Canada is ranked among the top five communications holding companies in Canada. Its client roster includes: Procter & Gamble, Canadian Tire, Sprint, SmithLine Beecham and Mars.
