By Adnews Staff
ENMAX has named Highwood Communications of Calgary its marketing and communications agency. Highwood was awarded the account after competing with four other unnamed agencies. Highwood will be responsible for providing marketing and communication services for ENMAX, with its partners Enslin Associates and Idea Machine. Enslin will be providing public, corporate and employee relations services and support. Idea Machine specializes in corporate identity creation and Web site and new media design. "Highwood is developing an integrated communications program for ENMAX," executive vice president, Highwood Communications, Pat Sullivan said. "Our objective is to position ENMAX as a leader in the utilities industry, and as the electrical service provider of choice for Calgarians. It is an exciting time to be in the utilities sector." Alberta is the first Canadian province to initiate deregulation of electricity services. Prior to deregulation, the delivery of electrical services was a monopoly, with prices set by the provincial government, which also oversaw the operations. The target date for the deregulation is scheduled for January 1, 2001 and at which point consumers will be able to choose where they purchase their electrical service.
