OHRC LAUNCHES WORKPLACE HARASSMENT AWARENESS CAMPAIGN
By Adnews Staff
The OHRC Ontario Human Rights Commission has launched its second province-wide public awareness campaign on sexual harassment in the workplace. The Commission ran the same type of campaign for the first time last year to address the number of sexual harassment complaints over the past decade. Red and black advertisements have been placed on transit vehicles in 18 different communities across Ontario. This year's campaign, which is being supported by The Ontario Women's Directorate, uses the same advertisements created last year by Goodman Communications of Toronto. The campaign was also a response to recommendations from the Coroner's inquest into the deaths of Theresa Vince and Russell Davis. Vince was working in Chatham, Ontario and had been sexually harassed at work. In addition to the public awareness campaign, the Commission has been working to develop company guidelines on sexual harassment and has taken a second look and redesigned procedures for handling complaints.
