HOME DEPOT HEADING INTO EASTERN CANADA

Toronto-based Home Depot Canada is opening its doors for the first time in Eastern Canada. The home improvement retailer has announced it is expanding its operations into Quebec, New Brunswick and Nova Scotia. Since 1994, 43 Home Depot stores have opened in Canada. With yesterday's announcement that number will increase to 49 and Home Depot's presence will now be found in eight of the ten provinces. Over the next two years Home Depot will open a minimum of three stores in Quebec, two in New Brunswick and one in Nova Scotia. Each new store will stock 40,000 to 50,000 building materials, home improvement supplies and lawn and garden products. PR for the Eastern Canada expansion is being handled by the Montreal and Toronto offices of Edelman Public Relations Canada.
