FAMILY CHANNEL, FORD AND DQ LAUNCHING PROMOTIONS
By Adnews Staff
Toronto-based Family Channel has teamed up with Dairy Queen and Ford of Canada to announce three summer promotions, targeting an audience of families with young kids. The three promotions are running separately but each is related to the others. The first promotion is called Family's FunShine Tour. It is a portable community event, launched the last weekend of May, offering games, prizes and giveaways at various Southern Ontario festivals and locations at which the tour will stop during the summer. Posters promoting the FunShine Tour will support the promotion. The second promotion is called the Family FunShine Contest and will run from July 5 to August 31. To participate, contestants must look for the FunShine logo while watching the Family Channel and send in the time and date at which they saw it. Family Channel is running a 60-second promotional spot to support the contest. The spot was created by Visual Communications of Toronto. The third promotion is called the Dairy Queen Best of Summer contest. The contest is an in-store collect and win promotion running from July 5 until August 31. Participants must collect game pieces from Dairy Queen french fry and drink containers for a chance to win the grand prize of a 1999 Ford Windstar LX mini-van. To support this promotion Dairy Queen will be using television, radio and outdoor advertising created by Grey Canada of Toronto. Point-of-sale material will also be used by both Dairy Queen and Family Channel, in Dairy Queen locations. The Family Channel Inc., is a commercial-free television service providing family television entertainment. The company is controlled by Astral Communications Inc. and WIC Western International Communications Ltd.
