TAGL ADVERTISING ON TTC TRANSFERS TO GO AHEAD
By Adnews Staff
Following a settlement of an Ontario Human Rights Complaint, the Toronto Transit Commission will advertise TAGL Toronto Area Gay and Lesbians services on a series of TTC transit transfers. The advertising space on the transfers was first purchased in 1993 by TAGL. Ads did not appear because at the time the Commission voted against the advertising proposal. As a result of the Human Rights settlement, advertising will appear from June 5 to August 29 on weekends, from June 14 to July 23 on weekdays and from September 7 to October 15 on weekdays. The settlement also calls for similar messages to appear on the Metron Clocks located in TTC subway stations and in conjunction with Gay Pride Day in June. According to a press release from the TTC, the current commission endorsed the resolution. Advertising on transfers is no longer done except for the TTC's own information. Advertising for the TTC is done by Communiqué of Toronto.
