CAA AND DEPT. OF NATIONAL DEFENSE WATCH FOR BIKES

As the summer season approaches and book bags and knap sacks are replaced with roller blades and bicycles, the Canadian Automobile Association has announced the Department of National Defense will be participating in the CAA's "Watch for Bikes" campaign across Canada. The campaign, started by CAA in 1998, is designed to help motorists and cyclists share the road safely. The campaign began after a cyclist fatality in 1997. The CAA has designed a transparent safety decal imprinted with the "Watch for Bikes" slogan, that is applied to the bottom of the driver's side mirror. The decal is meant to act as a constant reminder for drivers to watch for cyclists whenever they open their car doors in traffic. The decals, created in-house by the CAA, are available free of charge at participating CAA offices.
