Bell Canada has announced that John MacDonald, president and chief operating officer, has decided to leave the company. MacDonald joined Bell Canada in November 1994 as chief technology officer. In May 1997, he became chief operating officer. The following year in February he became president and chief operating officer. MacDonald stated the time is right for him to pursue new opportunities in the communications technology industry and spend more time with his family. Jean Monty, chairman and chief executive officer, will assume MacDonald's responsibilities effective June 1.
