CINEPLEX CONTINUING COMMITMENT TO FILM INDUSTRY

Cineplex Odeon Corporation of Toronto is continuing its contribution to the film industry after announcing details of its second Canadian Feature Film Marketing Fund. Under the terms of the fund, Cineplex will contribute over $3 million to Canadian distributors over a five-year period to strengthen the marketing of Canadian films. The fund began last year and contributed to the films The Red Violin, Last Night, Such a Long Journey and eXistenZ. In order to qualify for the fund, Canadian distributors must meet certain criteria including: the film must be Canadian in that it meets the requirements of a Canadian film or video production under the Income Tax Act. The distributor must hold full theatrical rights to the film and the film must be intended for theatrical release and exceed 70 minutes in length. Submissions for the Cineplex Odeon Canadian Feature Film Marketing Fund are accepted quarterly. This year's deadlines are June 15, September 15 and December 15.
