ROGERS TUNING INTO TO CHILLIWACK STATIONS

Rogers Broadcasting Ltd. has announced that it has entered into an agreement to acquire the Fraser Valley Radio Group, which has stations in Chilliwack (CHWK-am/CKSR-FM), Hope (CKGO-AM) and Abbotsford (CKMA-AM). Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed. The AM radio stations are focused on specific communities, while the FM station has three transmitters that provide coverage to over two million people. The deal is still subject to the approval of the Canadian Radio-television and Telecommunications Commission. Rogers currently owns and operates six radio stations in British Columbia, in Victoria, Vancouver, Vernon and Squamish/Whistler. It also operates the repeaters of the Mountain FM network. Rogers Broadcasting Ltd., which operates 19 AM and FM stations throughout Canada, is a division of Rogers Communications Inc., a national communications company engaged in wireless communications, cable and broadcast television, radio, publishing and new media.
