RED ROSE BEGINS SEARCH FOR BEST FIGURINE COLLECTION
By Adnews Staff
Lipton, based in Toronto, launched a contest yesterday to find the Canadian tea-drinker with the most impressive collection of Red Rose porcelain figurines. Called the Red Rose Millennium Challenge, the contest will attempt to determine who in this country has accumulated the largest percentage of the approximately 20 million figurines that have been given away in boxes of Red Rose Tea since 1967. The contest invites figurine aficionados to submit photos and descriptions of their collections along with two proofs of purchase. The grand prize winner will receive real-life specimens of two of the items portrayed in the most recent series of figurines called Inventions of the Century: a colour television set and a cellular telephone, plus a year's supply of Red Rose Tea. Five runners-up will also receive a year's worth or tea, plus a six-cup teapot modeled after the antique car figurine from the Inventions series. The contest closes July 31.
