SONY RECORDS DIGITAL IMAGES WITH NEW CAMCORDER
By Adnews Staff
Toronto-based Sony of Canada Ltd., a wholly owned subsidiary of Sony Corporation, Tokyo, is giving consumers the ability to record their memories digitally with the launch of Sony's Digital8 Handycam camcorder. To promote the launch of the new camcorder, Sony is using national print and television ads created by Ranscombe & Co. of Toronto. The Digital8 camcorder can record audio and video digitally on standard 8mm/Hi8 videotapes. The camcorder is also "backwards compatible" meaning consumers can play back their current libraries of 8mm or Hi8 tapes in a Digital8 Handycam. Other features of the Digital8 include: computer connection capability and a built-in Digital Still camera mode. The Digital8 Handycam is available at Sony Stores and authorized Sony dealers across Canada. PR for Sony of Canada Ltd. is handled by Cohn & Wolfe of Toronto.
