CIBC AND GIRL GUIDES TEAM UP

The Girl Guides of Canada of Toronto and Canadian Imperial Bank of Commerce have announced a partnership making CIBC the Girl Guides of Canada's first cookie campaign sponsor in the campaign's 70-year history. "CIBC's strong commitment to Canada's youth morrors our goals of helping young people to reach their full potential. We are excited to have found such a perfect fit on our new partner," Madge Twolan, chairwomam of the Girl Guides sposnorship task force, said in a relase. The Girl Guides sell cookies annually during two campaign periods. Chocolate and vanilla cookies are sold in the spring from February to May and a chocolate mint version is sold in November. The CIBC sponsorship will officially begin in 2000 with CIBC contributing an annual sponsorship fee of $150,000. As part of the partnership, the CIBC SmartStart logo and a one line message will be featured on 7 million Girl Guide cookie boxes, as well as on all cartons, posters and other promotional materials. Advertising for the Girl Guides is done in-house.
