BARBIE TURNS 40

Mattel Canada Inc. of Toronto is highlighting four decades of Barbie with an exhibit at the CN Tower in Toronto. Opening today and running until April 11, the Celebrating 40 Years of Dreams exhibit is the key Canadian event planned to commemorate Barbie's anniversary. The exhibit features vintage dolls from the '60s and '70s, including the original Barbie doll from 1959. The exhibit also marks the Canadian debut of a series of collector dolls commemorating the 40th anniversary. To promote the 40th anniversary of Barbie, Mattel is tagging its existing Tye Dye Barbie and Teen Sitter Skipper commercials in the Ontario area with a five second tag advertising the anniversary and exhibit. Advertising for Mattel is done by Ogilvy & Mather of Toronto. PR for Mattel is handled by The GCI Group of Toronto.
