AN ADVERTISING CAMPAIGN ABOUT ADVERTISING

ASC Advertising Standards Canada of Toronto, the industry's self-regulatory body that receives and reacts to consumer complaints, is launching a campaign to raise awareness about advertising. The ASC reviews consumer complaints according to the Canadian Code of Advertising Standards and Gender Portrayal Guidelines. To ensure public participation, ASC has launched a national consumer awareness campaign to let consumers know their concerns matter and how to take action. Using radio and print public service announcements, the ASC is letting consumers know, if an ad causes them concern, he/she can submit a complaint to the ASC and have it reviewed. The campaign began earlier this month and was created by the ASC and Strategic Objectives of Toronto. PR for the ASC is handled by Strategic.
