SEARS INTRODUCES NEW LINE FOR OFFICE LOOK

Sears Canada of Toronto has extended its showroom to offer a new line of merchandise targeting the small office/home office market. The line was rolled out in eight of its southern Ontario furniture and appliance stores late last year with a national roll-out being planned for the fall. The complete SOHO line includes both domestic and commercial grade office furniture suites. By the end of the month, all 109 Sears stores across Canada will receive an extensive catalogue dedicated to the SOHO furniture line. The 122-page full color catalogue will feature such products as desks, workstations, filing and storage units. The program also includes merchandise from brand names in office furniture such as Sauder, Bestar, Bush and O'Sullivan. The new line is being promoted using direct mail advertising created by Sears and Global. Plans for a national campaign of the SOHO line are being scheduled for the fall. Print advertising for Sears is done in-house and broadcast advertising is handled by Young and Rubicam of Toronto.
