AMOEBA DESIGNS THE PAST AND THE FUTURE
By Adnews Staff
Toronto-based Ameoba Corp., a creative group specializing in visual communication, has designed the Toronto Maple Leafs look for the past and the future. The group designed the season tickets for games played at both Maple Leaf Gardens and the soon-to-be-opened Air Canada Centre. The tickets designed for the first half of the season show Hall of Fame Maple Leaf players and historic shots of the Maple Leaf Gardens. Not only did Ameoba design the season tickets for the team's move to the Air Canada Centre, they also included a commemorative ticket for opening night. The new building is the backdrop for the tickets and each ticket shows an abstract shot of a current Maple Leaf player in action. Ameoba has also designed a 46-page proposal for the team to host the 2000 NHL All-Star Game and five backlit murals displayed outside of the stadium's west entrance. Each mural is approximately 12 feet x 20 feet and is sponsored by different corporations including Molson Breweries, Sears Canada, the Toronto Maple Leafs, the Toronto Raptors and the Air Canada Centre. Ameoba was established in May 1996. Clients include the Insurance Bureau of Canada, YTV Canada, Kraft Canada, The Artist Group, Dare Foods, Leo Burnett Co., Young & Rubicam, Ogilvy & Mather and Bates Canada.
