SNOWMOBILE SAFETY COMMITTEE LAUNCHES PUBLIC SERVICE ANNOUNCEMENTS

The Ontario Snowmobile Safety Committee will launch a series of television public service announcements about safety and snowmobiling. The four spots, entitled "Night Riding", "Stay on the Trail", "Snowmobiling and Alcohol Don't Mix" and "Know Before You Go", address the four main themes of snowmobiling safety. The 30 second spots were created by Digital Video Productions of Barrie, Ont. and will begin airing later this month. A free publication called the Family Guide to Safe and Responsible Snowmobiling is also available at Liquor Control Board of Ontario stores until the end of the month. The publication includes tips on how to enjoy snowmobiling safely. It is being promoted through in-store displays and poster support. Founded in 1992 to deal with the increasing growth in the sport of snowmobiling, the committee now has 19 different members including the LCBO, the Ontario Federation of Snowmobile Clubs, Labatt Breweries of Canada, Molson Breweries, Snowmobile Magazine, the Solicitor General office, Yamaha Motor Canada and The Royal Lifesaving Society.
