RAINFOREST HEADS EAST
By Adnews Staff
Vancouver-based Canadian Rainforest Restaurants is moving its way across Canada. The company opened its first Rainforest Cafe in Ontario this week. Located in Toronto, the restaurant recreates a tropical rain forest with animatronic wildlife. Guests will be treated to lush vegetation, simulated thunder and lightning, rain showers, rock formations, animated crocodiles and primates, live parrots, salt water aquariums and the sounds and smells of a tropical rainforest, all set amongst a backdrop of cascading waterfalls and banyan trees. The next cafe will open in Toronto in July. The first was opened last June in Vancouver. Canadian Rainforest relies mainly on PR and word-of-mouth to promote its restaurants. PR for the Toronto restaurant is being handled by Applause Communications of Toronto. Canadian Rainforest is a partnership between the Elephant & Castle Group of Vancouver and U.S.-based Rainforest Cafe Inc. Rainforest has almost 30 restaurants in the U.S., as well as outlets in London, England, Cancun, Mexico and Hong Kong.
