IBM UNVEILS NEW THINKPAD NOTEBOOKS

U.S.-based International Business Machines Corp. will add two new ThinkPad computers to the North American market by the first week of March. The two notebook computers are called the ThinkPad 770Z and the 600E. Both feature either a Pentium II 366 or 300 MHz processor, and either 14 gigabyte or 10 gigabyte hard drives. The 770 also includes either a 14.1-inch or 13.7-inch monitor, 128 MB of memory, expandable up to 320 MB, a DVD drive and 8MB of video RAM. The 600E features a 13.3-inch active matrix screen and 64MB of memory. The machine also incorporates DVD with movie playback support for delivering multimedia presentations. In Canada, the new ThinkPads will be promoted using ads in business and trade magazines, as well as daily newspapers. The campaign will be created by Ogilvy & Mather of Toronto.
