CANON UNLEASHES SOFTWARE

Canon Canada of Mississauga, Ont. launched a slew of new software this week. The programs are called ColorStore Print Projects, PictureFun, Photo Org and OfficeReady. ColorStore is a graphics program. It features a 3-D easel-back picture frame print-out for families to display their pictures. In addition, it lets users create color stickers, banners, labels, tags and cards. The program also lets users browse through hundreds of template designs and features an art library on CD-ROM to give users a variety of materials for their print projects. ColorStore has online access through EarthLink Total Access to allow users to import art from the Web and send or share projects through the Internet.

PictureFun is a picture-enhancement application. It allows users to edit, enhance and add special effects to pictures. The program includes a variety of output formats including greeting cards, picture frames, newspapers, flyers and magazine covers. Editing features allow users to distort, mirror, rotate or emboss pictures. Basic photo editing, such as removing red-eye, can also be done. PictureFun's color management system will correct problems such as under and over-exposure, bad lighting and out-of-focus shots.

Photo Org is a photo management program that helps users organize, customize, print, e-mail and share photos.

OfficeReady is geared to the small office/home office market. It is designed to complement Microsoft Office by providing users with ready-to-use templates for Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint. The program allows users to create presentations in these programs with their own look and color scheme. Other features include Internet connectivity and Internet access.
