BCTEL GIVES INTERNET USERS A PHONE BREAK

BC Telecom Inc. of Burnaby, B.C. has launched a new service so Internet enthusiasts never have to miss a phone call. Called Internet Call Director, the service provides users with computer screen notification of all incoming telephone calls while they are surfing the Internet. A pop-up screen alerts the customers to the call and identifies the caller by name and phone number. The customer can then terminate their Internet session and accept the call, forward the call to another line or cellular phone, forward the call to voice mail or play a recording asking the caller to call back later. Internet Call Director will be promoted using online ads and direct mail handled by Palmer Jarvis DDB of Vancouver. Print ads in Internet publications may be launched at a future date.
