NABS CREATES STRESS PHONE LINE
By Adnews Staff
The National Advertising Benevolent Society has developed a six-month pilot project to help employees in the advertising community deal with stress. The non-profit organization has launched the Stress Line, which is a toll-free 24-hour seven-days-a-week phone line that employees can call to talk or arrange a meeting with a professional counsellor at Family Services. The service is confidential and free. The phone line is being promoted using miniboard ads and posters displayed in Toronto ad agencies and related businesses, as well as direct mail and print ads. The campaign was created by Palmer Jarvis DDB of Vancouver. If the campaign initiates response in Toronto, it will be rolled out nationally in 1999. The Stress Line was established in response to a recent NABS survey which found that stress was a big concern in the industry whether it be caused by legal, financial, work or personal issues. NABS' mandate is to provide financial assistance, emergency guidance, financial planning, stress management, job counselling, training and placement for people in the ad industry.
